Hi! I’m Brittany, 22, size 18/20, 215lbs.
Wearing this dress to my friend’s wedding was a HUGE deal for me. I am incredibly insecure about my legs and as a result I rarely show them off… but hey! Gotta start self love somehow.http://thisgingersnapsback.tumblr.com/

:D c’est moi.

Ooh, you look pretty. Kind of like a grown up Ginny Weasley.

Weight policing is gross.

I went in for my yearly Ob/Gyn appointment recently. Since I was in last time, I’ve gained twenty pounds. I’m now 5’4 and I weigh 145 pounds. Because of that twenty pound weight gain, I had to sit through a lecture about responsible eating, exercise, and how “lifestyle changes” are the appropriate way to maintain a healthy weight.

And it was all I could do not to storm out of there yelling “Fuck you, fuck you very much.”

Want to know what the difference between me at 125 pounds and me at 145 pounds is? I don’t hate myself anymore. I don’t ask myself every day, with every bite of food, whether or not I deserve to eat. I don’t mentally add up calories constantly and obsessively, and call myself a  fat tub of lard, a gross disgusting bitch if the numbers don’t tally properly for the day. I no longer want to cry every time I even THINK about having to wear a swimsuit in front of other people. That twenty pounds represents a much, much healthier relationship with food, and it represents a hard won battle with depression and major self-esteem issues.

I really, really don’t want to have to hear about how much better I was before when I go in to get my health needs taken care of. Especially since I know better. And the thing is? I’m not even someone who experiences fat shame in most other contexts. I can’t even imagine hearing that kind of negativity thrown at my body every day, from people who feel like they’re doing it for my “health and well-being.”

Seriously? Can we quit this shit? Can we stop pretending we care about other people’s health and that we’re bullying them and abusing them for their own good?

I’ve always enjoyed that the Gryffindor common room is decorated with the seven “Lady and the Unicorn” tapestries in the Harry Potter movies. There are a few other famous pieces of work incorporated into the movies too, and I always thought it was a really nice detail.

kinda bored with The Sopranos now.

puffy-lipped-gay-bar-pinup:

i need something else to watch.

Sarah, i checked out Friday Night Lights and i really hate football so i don’t wanna watch it but thanks for the suggestion

PLEASE don’t make the mistake of thinking Friday Night Lights is about football- it’s really not. I despise football, but FNL is still a special show. Give it a chance- seriously. There’s a lot more to it than that

This radio station is asking listeners whether the station would be better if they keep Rush Limbaugh on the air or get rid of him. Right now, “Keep Rush” is winning. Poll closes Friday at 7pm.

FLY MY PRETTIES

tumblrbomb please for the love of all that is beautiful

I don’t know how much good this will do, but you get to click on “dump rush” and that’s gotta make you feel good!

The last time I (admin C) reblogged this, the site broke within seconds. Now they have a separate poll site, which means once again I ask you to encourage this station to cut Rush from their programming. Hopefully that’ll hit him in the wallet (just as losing sponsors did).

Yea when this first went up the link was dead. And now apparently they got a lot of spam from Reddit and other sources…

You know what I kind of hate about this response from the station? Before it was on Reddit, it was on Free Republic. That’s how it ended up on Reddit in the first place. So there’s no way to know how many of the “Keep Rush” votes were Freepers and not KSCO listeners either.

And this is why if a radio station wants to hear from listeners about a contentious subject, they should do a call in poll, not an internet one. Once it’s on the internet, there’s no way to determine who’s local and who isn’t.

b-a-s-e-s asked: I just wanted to tell you that your ''Men Get Raped Too'- A Response' finally made me understand why it's not ok for me to say that 'white people experience racism too' in conversations about racism. My dad is black and my mum is white, and I always want to stick up for everybody equally. But now I get that there are times when it's better for me to be quiet. thanks X

This absolutely made my day. What an awesome example of taking lessons  about one type of institutionalized oppression and applying them to another. Thank you for taking the time to let me know :)
